British writer/director Stephen Poliakoff's thought-provoking psychological drama focuses on a largely deserted London mansion and an innocent young man, Joe (Danny Lee Wynter), who takes a job as a part-time caretaker for its owner, an enigmatic billionaire named Elliot Graham (Michael Gambon) who lives across the street
Initially asked not to do anything more than record who is coming and going, Joe finds contentment in his new home. When an adulterous young politician named Richard (Rupert Penry-Jones) is given permission by Graham to borrow the house for liaisons with his beautiful girlfriend Charlotte (Kelly Reilly), Joe forms a close bond with the illicit lovers.
While that affair winds its way to an emotionally shattering conclusion, Graham hires a young woman named Tina (Rebecca Hall) to investigate how his late father acquired his fortune. After Tina unveils a stunning family secret, it is up to Joe to prevent that revelation from destroying Graham.
