Golden Globe nominee Matthew Broderick stars as young Clark Kellogg, whose move to New York City to begin film school gets off to an inauspicious start when Victor, a small-time crook, steals all his belongings.

But Victor offers to make amends for ripping him off by setting him up with a job. Marlon Brando stars as Carmine 'Jimmy the Toucan' Sabatini, an 'importer' with questionable business interests but an unquestionably attractive daughter (Penelope Ann Miller) who makes Clark an offer he can't refuse. Soon he's caught up in an unexpected caper involving endangered species and fine dining.

Support cast includes Bruno Kirby, Frank Whaley, Jon Polito and Maximilian Schell with a soundtrack from Nick Cave, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Grandmaster Flash and Bob Dylan, and watch for musical brothers David and Don Was (Was (Not Was)) as keyboard player and guitarist in the Gourmet Club Party Band.

Trivia:
Bruno Kirby (Brando's nephew) played the young Clemenza in The Godfather: Part II; Brando left the set one day in the trunk of his car to avoid photographers; Matthew Broderick had no idea that Marlon Brando was going to use the walnuts as a prop. Brando cracked the walnuts just enough so they would be easy to break, which helped generate a more genuine response from Broderick.
