Synopsis
Bill Pullman stars as a Harvard researcher who ventures into the heart of voodoo to investigate the zombie legend in this chiller from the stylishly macabre mind of Wes Craven.
Based on the real-life Wade Davis, an ethno botanist who embarked on a groundbreaking hunt for the zombie drug, Pullman is a believable everyman yoked into an unbelievable limbo land, and Cathy Tyson in her first role since Mona Lisa is duskily along for the ride.
Trivia: due to political strife and civil turmoil in Haiti during the production, the government informed the film crew that they could not guarantee their safety; Bill Pullman's wife was invited to be an extra and appears as the blonde who pushes a long needle through a willing man's cheek.
