Oscar nominee Spike Lee directs with characteristic flair, adapted from the best-selling Richard Price novel, this devastating crime-drama about a murder investigation in the ghetto.
The prime suspect: a good-hearted drug dealer who wants to get out. Oscar nominee Harvey Keitel stars as Detective Rocco Klein and acclaimed actor-director John Turturro as Detective Larry Mazilli; two grizzled detectives who think they've got the case all figured out.
Mekhi Phifer stars as Strike; a young man who is not heroic but not evil, weighed down by the terrible burden of being trapped in a world of drugs and crime and not liking it there. Strike and his friends work as "clockers", the lowest link in the drug supply chain.
Depicting a dangerously seedy world of shifting loyalties and urban decay, Lee's gritty cinematography perfectly captures the tone of those who eke out a living in a New York housing project.
Also stars Michael Imperioli, Regina Taylor, Isaiah Washington and Spike Lee.
